 Playing outside

Being silly with Mimi!

We are having a great summer so far! Doing a lot as a family- game night, movie night, swimming, etc... I cannot believe that Braden is 5!! He is growing like a weed and is SO tall! He really enjoyed his birthday parties, but we learned that a bunch of 5 year olds at a bowling alley having to wait for their turn is not the best idea we ever came up with. I would not recommend it until they are older! Whew! That was a rough couple hours.

At the end of May we went to Braden's Kindergarten screening. I honestly wasn't sure how he would do since I would be in the room. Sometimes he can act so shy and whiny if we are around. I am teaching at the school he will be attending but I will not be his teacher- LOL!! He did a great job identifying all his letters, letter sounds, counting, making patterns, rhyming, etc... We were super proud of how he did and that he was a big boy about it!

We went through a rough patch with behavior, but are doing a lot better now. Jill found a book for raising a strong willed child and we put those suggestions to practice and it has really been a blessing for our family. We are all enjoying each other much more- LOL!

I also started reading a book with Braden called the 7 Habits of Happy Kids and he is responding really well with that book too. He now has a job chart and has been proud of earning his check mark when he completes his jobs.

We just went to the eye doctor for his first eye exam. He was a bit apprehensive about going since he didn't know what to expect, but he did a GREAT job and sat right down and acted like a young man. The doctor was so impressed with how well he behaved and showered him with compliments! Of course we were VERY proud parents as well.

I am really looking forward to the extra time we have to spend together over the summer making special memories that will last a lifetime! We are so blessed to be his parents and are loving every minute of it!!

What's the name of the book, raising a strong willed child ? Just wondering.

Seeing that picture of Braden with his cousin makes me certain that he needs a little sister. In fact. If you want...just take her. They look like siblings. She's here. She's super cute.
Ta da. Instant sibling.
:)

Way to rock the kindergarten assessment.
Cute pics.
